RRT Racing Entering Grand Am Koni Challenge

RRT Racing has officially entered the ranks of the greatest road racing series in North America with their entry in the Grand Am Koni Challenge race at New Jersey Motorsports Park in May. The race program scheduled for May 1st through May 2nd will be the first of the four races that RRT Racing has elected to participate in during the 2009 season.

RRT Racing has spent the early months of this year developing the car and the support structure necessary to competitively race in a pro series. At the core of this work was the conversion of a 2009
BMW E90 328i from a showroom car into a racecar. The RRT Racing entry will be one of the two current 3-series chassis racing in this class.

“Even though the rules were not finalized at the time, we decided to take a calculated gamble and purchase the car, so we could to get to work,” stated Barry Battle who will not only pilot the car, but is
also leading its development. Battle continued, “It is exciting to be working on a fresh chassis and I am looking forward to translating all we have learned into our customers’ street e90s.”

Michael Dayton, who previously raced an RRT-built 1995 M3, will be joining Battle behind the wheel of the new racecar at the upcoming races. “I am pumped for this new experience and being involved at the ground floor as this team grows,” stated Dayton.

After the race in New Jersey, RRT Racing will also race at Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, and Virginia International Raceway (VIR) later in the fall. “We wanted to use the partial 2009 seasons to develop our formula for success in this very competitive series before we dive into a complete season,” said Battle.

RRT Racing would like to thank its 2009 sponsors: Tischer BMW’s GetBMWParts.com, OG Racing, DiffsOnline.com, Vorshlag Motorsports, Schroth Safety Equipment, BrakeSwap.com, and e90fanatics.com.
