Sterling, Virginia (April 6, 2010) – Entering Round 3 of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in fifth place in the ST–class standings, the RRT Racing #18 BMW 328i will be piloted by Paul Gerrard and Rick Maxson. The new set of drivers will build on the team’s winning ways for the third race of 2010 at Barber Motorsports Park.

Paul Gerrard is an internationally-recognized and accomplished driver in the pro-racing circles. He currently serves as the Director of Global Training for the Jim Russell schools and Chief Driving Instructor for the Audi Driving Experience. Paul has over 20 years of competitive driving experience in both domestic and international series. In addition, Paul has done development work and testing for automobile and tire manufacturers.

Barber will not be the first time RRT Racing has benefited from Paul’s skills. At Homestead, he stepped in to provide coaching and consulting to the team’s drivers. “Paul delivers a wealth of knowledge through a logical and technically-based teaching style that helped us see marked improvements in the lap times all weekend, “ noted the opening #18 driver Michael Dayton. Dayton continued, “Paul is a real asset for the team and its continued strong results.”

For the remainder of the season, Paul’s coaching and driving skills will be available for the RRT drivers to help ensure the best result each race weekend. Through his proven assistance the drivers have the data, analysis, and advice to shave seconds off of their lap times every weekend. Team principal Barry Battle summed it up, “With Paul on-board, RRT provides one of the best overall packages in the Continental Series.”

Paul’s co-driver at Barber will be Rick Maxson who hails from Atlanta. Like Paul, Rick has spent about two decades racing, however Rick started on two wheels with motocross at age of 14 and progressed to the pro ranks at age 19. His four-wheel racing career would start a few years later when he received his competition license in 2000. Since starting his racing career, Rick has raced several BMWs and achieved multiple wins.
