Kurt has been utilizing his E36 M3 for many years now as a dual purpose street driver and track day car. When he decided to take the leap to a dedicated track platform, he contacted us here at RRT Racing to help him materialize his vision.
This classic BMW already featured KW Club Sport coilovers equipped with Vorshalg camber plates. New Apex wheels wrapped in Nitto NT-01 tires help keep the car planted in the turns while a Dinan carbon fiber intake, Supersprint exhaust and an Epic Motorsports tune help to motivate it down the straights. This S52 engine also features an upgraded oil pump, new rod bearings and a freshened cylinder head.
The interior of the vehicle was completely stripped, all sound deadening and unnecessary components removed. RRT Racing then fabricated a full roll cage with a reinforced ‘bent X’ door bar, extra foot protection and a triangulated rear structure. The entire interior and trunk were sprayed in a medium grey to dull reflections and to provide a finished appearance. New Sparco seats were installed on custom floor mounts and a Scroth harness holds the driver in place. Steering is handled through a new Momo steering wheel with a quick detached hub. A complete fire system rounds out the safety upgrades on this M3.
The windows were modified to be easily removable for track use and black and blue graphics were added so that this build stands out on the track. Overall this car is very well balanced and is a great example of what a trackday car should be.
