If you would like to see your event listed here or if you would like to partner with RRT for an event, contact one of the managers here at the shop and we would be glad to help in any way we can. Unless specifically stated, RRT is usually a participant in these events and not an official organizer. We are more that happy to answer any questions we can about them and also refer you to the correct person at the host organization if more information is needed.

Rock the Dragon 2017 – THE Premiere S2000 Spring Event
It’s time to kick off the Spring season right and Rock the Dragon, April 27th-30th at Fontana Village Resort! Come spend some time in the mountains and experience thrilling roads, wonderful sights, and a big, warm S2000 family. Gain a newfound respect for the car while making unforgettable memories with some great characters.

Rock the Dragon 2017 (RtD2017), THE annual Spring S2000 event at the Dragon! Located in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of NC/TN, this is THE premiere S2000 event! Great driving on 318 curves in 11 miles and plenty of opportunity to hang out with other S2000 enthusiasts.
RtD2017 starts April 27 (Thursday) and ends on April 30th (Sunday). A tentative itinerary is included below (a complete detailed itinerary will be emailed to you before the event. Please be sure and print it and bring it with you). Be sure to check the Dragon Events forums on S2KI.com for drives and events organized by other members (which may not be included on the itinerary). Don’t forget to sign up for the other events you are interested in early; most drives are limited to a maximum number of cars.
DRIVER REGISTRATION: $65
Includes: The Friday night picnic, the banquet Saturday, event magnet, lanyard with name tag (which is your ticket to admission for all events), applicable PayPal/Google Checkout Fees, and admission to all event activities. Does not include Eventbrite fees.
GUEST REGISTRATION: $60

Please note: Registration closes March 25, 2017. There will be no registration or t-shirt orders after that date. If you wish to register or order t-shirts, do so before March 25.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY (all events subject to change due to whim, weather or circumstance) Be sure you print a copy of the official RtD2017 itinerary which you will receive via email. There will not be copies at Fontana.
Thursday, April 27 – Meet the OKI Group and Dinner – Organizer; Ken (kgf3076) For the early arrivers: Meet the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana (OKI) group in Maryville, followed by a group dinner at The Park Grill. A somewhat spirited drive across the Dragon and the Parkway to meet the OKI group. Afterwards we’ll head in a group to Gatlinburg and dinner at Park Grill. After dinner, we’ll drive the Parkway as a big group. At the end of the Parkway, we’ll split into a Spirited and a Newbie group and then do a twilight drive across the Dragon. Meet at the General Store at 1:00 pm. Departure at 1:15 pm.
Friday, April 28 – The official start of RtD2017. Check the whiteboard in the lobby to see who has arrived and where they’re staying. There will be lots of Dragon driving, catching up and renewing friendships. Check the itinerary for organized drives, or for something different, explore the other great roads in the area for more driving adventures.
The Newbie Drive
You can pick up your RtD2017 packet early Friday morning and take part in the “First Timer’s Orientation”. Check the itinerary for exact time and meeting location.
If this is your first Dragon event, you are encouraged to join in, meet other first timers and pick up tips on driving the Dragon. Meet at the General Store at 8:00 am for a drivers orientation. Depart at 8:15 am.
Friday’s are for Franklin – Organizer: Ken (kgf3076)
Drive Rt 28 to Franklin, NC to lunch at the Root and Barrell (formerly The Bowery). There will be a number of different drives for every skill level. If you’re a first timer (or new to Rt 28), please select the moderate paced drive. After lunch, there will be organized drives to various places in the vicinity. Line up at the General Store and be prepared to leave in your drive group starting at 10:45
Friday Nantahala Brewery Drive – Organizer: Florian (funat9000rpm)
The drive will leave after lunch in Franklin and go to the Nantahala Brewery in Bryson City, NC. The drive is approximately 45 minutes and not very spectacular, but it’s the destination that counts: This drive is for 21+ only, as we will be enjoying a post-lunch adult beverage at the Brewery. Growlers and six packs are available for purchase from the brewery, just in time for the beer swap Friday night. The pace will be not moderate.
Friday Night Picnic
Friday night is the picnic on the ball field. Park your car under the lights and mingle with the other attendees. You can pick up your RtD2017 packet. The RtD2017 packet includes your event credentials which are required as they give you admission to all activities. Come early to renew old friendships and make new ones.
Saturday, April 29 – DRAGON GROUP DRIVE
The “official” DAY of RtD2016. Line up in front of the ball field. Group Dragon driving is on the agenda and you’ll have an opportunity for a group photo at the paved lot at the end of the roll out. Make sure you sign up for one of the many organized drives leaving after the group drives.on the great roads surrounding the Dragon. If you choose not to go on any of the drives, feel free to continue driving the Dragon, explore the area on your own or relax at the lodge.
The Saturday Night Dinner
The RtD2017 Saturday Night Dinner will be served in the Rec Hall next to the Wildwood Grill. We’ll enjoy dinner with a recap of the event and videos and pictures from the weekend.
Bourbon Tasting – After the Saturday Dinner – Organizer: Mike (lovetodrive2000)
Meet in the Lodge lobby after the Saturday Dinner for an evening of great conversation, convivial companionship and a chance to sample a number of fine adult beverages. Bring something to share.
Sunday, April 30 – Say goodbye to fellow S2000 enthusiasts. Some folks will be driving the Dragon, but the majority will be leaving on this day.
